How do evangelicals transform poor people into right-wingers?

Roberto Savio – the founder of the site The Other News, describes the political dimensions of evangelicalism

We live in a world in which evangelicals have become of prime importance in international relations after the electoral victories of Donald Trump in the United States and Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil. What new opportunities does this religious group bring for politics and religion? The Italian journalist Roberto Savio answers this question in a short video.

Savio is the founder of the platform The Other News, which publishes in English, Italian and Spanish. The Other News tries to present voices, analyses and news which remain on the margins of international media space. One of the strengths of The Other News is the look towards the Global South, which is often ignored and insufficiently understood in international media. The Barricade started a partnership with The Other News and both platforms will exchange articles and videos translated into their readers’ local languages and will cooperate for the better understanding of international developments.

This video of Other News TV – the video podcast of our partners – sheds light on the political dimensions of evangelicalism, whose influence is felt in the age of Trump all over the world, including in the eastern part of the EU.
